FOUR-TIME Group 1 winner Meandre will stand as a stallion at Napajedla Stud in the Czech Republic from this year.

The nine-year-old son of Slickly was originally trained by Andre Fabre for his breeder the Rothschild family and despite being some way below the top rung at two, made giant strides at three.

In his Classic season he won the Listed Prix de l'Avre and Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris before he finished second in the Prix Niel and a creditable sixth to Danedream in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

At four Meandre scored in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and Grosser Preis von Berlin, was down the field in the Arc before finishing a close third to Red Cadeaux in the Hong Kong Vase.

He was later sold to Ramdan Kazyrov and trained by Doug Watson and Arslangirej Savujev and claimed more Group 1 laurels at five in the Preis von Europa.

Meandre is a half-brother to Listed-placed Dogma out of Penne, a Listed-placed daughter of Sevres Rose.

He will stand his first season at a fee of CzKr25,000 (£800/€925).
